Durham, NC — The Artists at Golden Belt in partnership with Liberty Arts and the Cordoba Arts Center will host the second annual “Twelve by Twelve” Art Sale & Benefit Concert at the Golden Belt studios in downtown Durham. The event will be a fundraiser for KidZNotes, a Durham-based musical education non-profit organization that fights poverty and encourages positive decision making by instructing and engaging children in classical orchestral music.

The event starts Thursday, November 15th from 5:30-7:30pm with over 250 works of art for sale and will feature a one-hour performance by KidZNotes students and instructors with special guest, the Eric Hirsh Quartet. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door, 100% of which directly benefits KidZNotes. Free food and drink will be provided. Participating artists will donate at least 12% of all proceeds from the show to KidZNotes.

The event continues during the regular Third Friday Open Studios on November 16 from 6-9pm. The exhibit and art sale will remain up in ROOM100 Gallery for the month of November. However, the bulk of the displayed artwork will be on sale in the hallways and lobby for the Nov 15 & 16 events only. Golden Belt is located at 807 East Main Street, Building 3, Durham, NC 27701.

“Twelve by Twelve” is the second annual art show benefiting a local charity organized by the Artists at Golden Belt, a collaborative of more than 40 artists working in downtown Durham. This year the show will also feature work by participating artists from nearby Liberty Arts. The show will offer for sale over 250 unique pieces of fine art created specifically for the event by the Golden Belt Artists, each measuring 12 inches by 12 inches and available for $200 and under.

“We enjoyed such a great response last year to this event and we hope to continue to build on the momentum by further engaging the community and supporting arts and culture in Durham. KidZNotes seemed like the perfect fit for what we’re trying to do. ” said Golden Belt Artist representative Heather Gordon.

“Last year’s 12 x 12 show was the beginning of a wonderful tradition at Golden Belt – a beautiful array of great, new, and unique pieces of art in the 12 x 12 format by different Golden Belt artists for the holidays. It’s an opportunity to purchase a piece of art and, at the same time, benefit a great organization in KidZNotes” said Gary Kueber, Chief Executive Officer for Scientific Properties and Principal of Open Durham.
