Durham-Based Nonprofit Receives $25,000 Donation From the Price Fund
Durham, NC – On December 1st, Kidznotes students were invited to perform in front of a sold-out audience at Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) when two-time GRAMMY Award winner Lauren Daigle came to town on the “BEHOLD: A Christmas Tour.” The students performed three holiday songs and showcased the talents they have cultivated through participation in the Kidznotes program. In addition to the incredible opportunity, Daigle and the Price Fund presented Kidznotes with a donation of $25,000 to further the organization’s mission, which was just officially received – just in time for holiday celebrations!
“When Lauren’s team called the office to invite our kids to perform, it was an easy yes,” said Shana Tucker, Executive Director of Kidznotes. “Knowing that so many of our students had never been to DPAC before – let alone performed on any stage – I recognized this was going to be an amazing experience for them. The joy was apparent on their faces when Lauren came on stage to speak with them and thank them for playing, and then to be presented with a $25,000 gift? We are so grateful for the validation and support of our work.”
Founded in 2010 on the principles of El Sistema, Kidznotes sparks social change by providing comprehensive music education, leadership opportunities, and character-building experiences to children with the fewest resources and the greatest need.
The donation will help provide free, quality group music instruction and instrument rental to close to 200 students, train 30 teaching artists, and provide scholarship opportunities for gifted students to attend summer programs.
Through partnerships and outreach The Price Fund, established by Daigle in 2019, provides care for children and the elderly as well as those in need. She is committed to investing her time and actively works to heal through various means, including work with at-risk youth. From ticket sales alone, Daigle has donated over $1 million to various charities to date and continues to raise funds through merchandise and streaming.
Since the release of her GRAMMY Award winning, platinum certified album Look Up Child, Lauren has reigned on the Billboard Charts. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Top 200 Albums chart making Daigle the first female artist to simultaneously hit the Top 10 on both Billboard’s Pop and Christian Billboard Album Charts. After spending 100 weeks at No. 1, Look Up Child also holds the record for the greatest number of weeks at the top of any individual album chart. In addition, the GRAMMY Award winning crossover hit, “You Say,” became the longest-running No. 1 song of any genre on the weekly Billboard Hot charts at an incredible 132 weeks and was recently certified 4x-platinum by the RIAA. Daigle has earned seven Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards, and 10 GMA Dove Music Awards, and has sold-out concert venues all over the world.
