Kidznotes is Seeking a Program Assistant!
Kidznotes is seeking a Program Assistant to support a rich music program focused on cultivating a caring, cooperative, rigorous, and fun community.
You will commit approximately 15 hours/ week collaborating with other Kidznotes staff to support the Kidznotes program.
Organization Summary:
The mission of Kidznotes is to change lives through ever-expanding participation in youth orchestras, bands, and choirs. Our El Sistema-inspired model is advancing a thriving, diverse network of children, families, and partners where music energizes limitless social change. Students are taught in group lessons after school 2-3 days on weekdays (depending on level) and Saturday mornings.
Expectations:
- Assist program staff in managing intake, snack, class transitions, dismissal, and taking attendance
- Assist program staff in managing student behavior during class hours
- Assist program staff in communicating with students’ parents surrounding attendance and behavior
- Be on time and take ownership of your duties in supervising and supporting students, teachers, and other staff members
- Collaborate with a team of staff members to create the best experience for students
- Be flexible in terms of last minute adjustments to space and upcoming events
- Maintain frequent communication with teachers and staff members surrounding student attendance, behavior, and general progress within the progra
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate dedication to the well-being of students of all ages and backgrounds
- Strong commitment to El Sistema’s philosophy of social change through music and the mission of Kidznotes
- Experience in managing groups of K-12 students in both classroom and unstructured settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse community
- Interest and ability to be a motivational mentor and role model for students, parents, and peers as an artist, teacher, and citizen
- Ability to work under frequent observation
Preferred but not required:
- Experience working with children from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

- Hours and compensation dependent on availability and experience.
