Join us on May 22nd for Sunday FUNday Festival!

Spring semester 2021 has begun!

A message from Shana Tucker, Executive Director of Kidznotes:

KIDZNOTES SPRING SEMESTER BEGINS!

There’s a LOT to be done at an organization that provides free access to instrument provision and high-quality music instruction — virtually this school year — to over 250 students in Durham Public Schools and the Wake County Public School System… during a pandemic.

We’re currently a small administrative staff of two, but since October, we’ve had the good fortune and benefit of skilled, professional consultants who are helping us to identify our org’s greatest strengths and gifts.

(Sidebar: if you have strong Development and Program Management backgrounds, be on the lookout for job announcements very soon!)

Shout Out to Our Teaching Artists

Our Teaching Artist team is freaking FANTASTIC… they love what they do, and they love our students. Witnessing their unfaltering dedication and commitment to sharing the JOY of music with our kids — IN VIRTUAL CLASSROOMS!! — is one of the best parts of my job. What an honor to work with these artistic warriors. I will continue to support you in every way, TA Team!

Board of Directors = Superheroes

My Board of Directors are a group of committed, capable, caring human beings who also happen to be superheros in their respective worlds. They lend their professional superpowers on a regular basis to help me do the heavy lifting necessary to keep a nonprofit going — to keep us THRIVING, not just surviving. Thank you all for your support… you are doing tremendously necessary work!

Investors in Our Success

Our Kidznotes donors and sustainers came through, showed up and SHOWED OUT for our 2020 End of Year Campaign… we raised close to $114,000 in less than 2 months! Thank you all for investing in the joy of music, and for knowing that music is a gift that everyone — no matter what their economic status — should have access to.

Change Takes Time

CHANGE TAKES TIME. We are in chrysalis phase.

You will start to see and hear the wonderful work that’s been quietly happening before too long.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the video update, a little peek at what we’ve been up to — in just the last week of January alone!

Thanks for reading to the end, my friends. You too are a part of our JOY machine!

And, hey — if you’re interested in volunteering for Kidznotes, email administrator@kidznotes.org and tell me what YOUR superpower is so we can connect!

Shana
