WHY SUPPORT KIDZNOTES?

Kidznotes is so much more than a music program.

Kidznotes is a music-for-social change program that engages young people's interest in music and fosters the development of their musical skills, confidence, discipline, self-reliance, sense of place & leadership within their communities, and overall character. Past participants have grown into exceptional leaders, as evidenced by our very first class of Kindergarten-aged Mozarts students who are now in college and nearing career age. One former student is studying music at Johns Hopkins under a full scholarship, and all of the Program's graduates are empowered, successful young people now pursuing music and other worthy passions at the collegiate level.

Without Kidznotes, sparks of potential may not get fanned into the flames of brilliance and leadership that we seek to create in our community.

The above Kidznotes account is a self-liquidating account; as such, it is essential that Kidznotes is aware when the transfer is in progress. Please ask your broker to notify Kidznotes’ Development Team (development@kidznotes.org or 919-321-4475) that the gift has been initiated and provide donation information, specifically the donor's name.

Kidznotes prefers gifts of securities held in brokerage accounts; however, if you wish to gift securities held in physical form, please complete the information form below to notify us of your interest in donating securities, including your preferred contact information, and a Kidznotes representative will contact you soon.

  • You can support Kidznotes by donating your interest in a private business, such as a C-Corporation, S-Corporation, Limited Partnership (LP), or Limited Liability Company (LLC). With appropriate planning and coordination with your legal and/or financial advisor, the transfer of your business interest in privately held, non-publicly traded assets to Kidznotes is an uncomplicated process that can occur without delaying any related exit sale processes. Donating a long-term appreciated business interest directly to Kidznotes maximizes the impact of your gift and your tax deduction.

Please complete the information form below to notify us of your potential opportunity to donate a business interest, including your preferred contact information, and a Kidznotes representative will contact you soon.

In preparation for the discussion, please review the company governing documents (e.g., shareholders’ agreement, membership agreements (LLCs), limited partnership agreements) of your business interest to determine whether shareholders, partners, or members are subject to transfer restrictions. If transfer restrictions exist, further investigation is needed to determine necessary amendments, approvals, or waivers required to complete the donation. Additionally, there may be rights of first refusal in favor of the company or other owners that need to be waived before the business interest can be donated. Note, these restrictions are rarely burdensome enough to be a significant barrier to transfer and restrictions are typically handled with a simple waiver or consent by the other interest holders.

For planning purposes, a qualified appraisal (an independent, third-party valuation) is generally required to substantiate the amount of your charitable tax deduction to be claimed on your tax return related to donation of non-publicly traded securities. Appraisals can be obtained no earlier than 60 days before the date of donation, and no later than the date that your annual tax return (with extensions) is due for the year of donation. Therefore, while the appraisal does not need to be completed prior to your donation, you and your financial or legal advisor should engage with a valuation firm early on in the planning process to confirm both the qualifications and availability of the appraiser, as well as to set expectations for the overall process, to prevent any downstream income tax challenges.

Please complete this simple form and we will be in touch soon.

We welcome all methods of support for our kids and their development. If you have questions or are interested in supporting our mission through methods not listed here, please contact our Development Team at development@kidznotes.org or 919.321.4475.
