Aubrey Wellfare
Program Director
Aubrey Wellfare is a musician and arts education advocate. Since playing the piano and viola in childhood, she became passionate about supporting youth arts programs like those that supported her by pursuing a career in arts administration. Mission-driven work is a requisite for her in a workplace and she aims to bring access, excellence, community-building, and joy to her role at Kidznotes.
Aubrey holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Business at Oklahoma City University and a Master of Arts in Arts Management from American University. While in the Washington, DC area, she joined the education team at the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, a program of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, where she coordinated arts-integrated programs for children in preschool through first grade classrooms across Virginia. Working with a roster of teaching artists to deliver arts programs became a strong interest and she moved to Durham in 2021 with the intent of supporting its arts and education community through the Creative Arts in Public/Private Schools (CAPS) program with the Durham Arts Council.
Durham's thriving arts scene is one to be celebrated and Aubrey looks forward to bringing more young musicians into this welcoming community through Kidznotes programs. Aubrey continues her own musical journey by playing in the Durham Medical Orchestra.
