MY KIDZNOTES WHY
Create Your Own #MyKidznotesWhy Campaign!
THE WHY
As we near the end of the calendar year, Kidznotes is launching a super easy fundraiser to raise money and increase awareness about who we are and what we (uniquely) do.
THE WHAT
Through December 2, 2022, we are running our MY KIDZNOTES WHY crowdfunding campaign. Crowdfunding campaigns work by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the internet. (Think of a GoFundMe or Kickstarter campaign.) We are doing the same with our MY KIDZNOTES WHY campaign. We ask you to tap into your networks and ask your friends for donations. It can be in the form of an email ask, Social Media post, or Social Media fundraiser.
THE WHO
We need participation from all Kidznotes staff, faculty, board, parents and volunteers to make it successful.
THE HOW
1. Identify your personal fundraising goal
It can be $50 or $500. Make your personal fundraising goal something you can actually achieve. A smaller goal is better to start with than an amount that is unattainable. YOU CAN ALWAYS RAISE YOUR GOAL IF YOU SURPASS YOUR ORIGINAL AMOUNT. And how cool would that be?!? If you meet your goal - keep fundraising! It means your network is receptive to your ask and they want to help - so keep at it!
Make sure to put your own donation towards your goal.
Whether $5, $100, $500 - whatever the amount, make sure you make and include your donation and message that you contributed.
People are much more likely to donate if they know you have already made a donation and have skin in the game.
2. ID the people you will email or, where and when you will make the social media post
For emails:
Use your networks! Networks go beyond professional associations and close friends. Your networks can include people you know through church, book club, community pool, kids' sports teams, neighbors, family, workout friends, bowling league, F3, civic organizations like Kiwanis or Junior League, etc.
For Social Media (Need some guidance? Stay tuned for a Social Media Campaign Webinar from Program Manager Micaela Bundy coming the week of November 28.)
Think about when you want to post. Make it fun and simple!
ID when you want to make your Facebook or IG fundraiser.
3. Create your story
Use the template linked below to help structure your donation ask.
Make your MY KIDZNOTES WHY personal and sincere. Sincerity is powerful! Make your WHY personal and you will get better results. And don’t worry, it can be short! Here’s an example of a WHY: "I am thrilled to be part of an organization that helps youth tap into their internal joy through the experience, discipline and community of music education."
Add some graphics or photos (yes, use those links for options!)
4. Send that email or make that social media post!
If you send an email, please cc or bcc Danielle (dshuirman@kidznotes.org) and/or Shana (Shana@kidznotes.org), as this will help Kidznotes collect metrics to help us the next time we launch a crowdfunding campaign.
For Social Media - use our hashtags: #mykidznoteswhy #wearekidznotes #somoskidznotes #kidznotesinthecommunity #durham #raleigh. (Including these hashtags will also help us capture metrics.)
